Residents of Tashar Danjanku community in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State, blocked Katsina–Kano highway on Tuesday while protesting incessant attacks by bandits.
Motorists plying the road were stranded during the peaceful protest.
The community was angered by a recent attack where criminal elements invaded the area, killing at least one person while about 20 others were kidnapped.
Protesters accused the authorities and leaders of the state of failing to protect them or take meaningful action to address the increasing security crisis.

Bandits on Tuesday last week, invaded Doguwar Šorawa killing two elderly community leaders and abducting several residents.
