Soldiers from Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) Sector 1 raided a bandits’ camp in the Aterayange area of Ukum Local Government Area, Benue State, killing one suspect and recovering weapons and ammunition.
The overnight operation, conducted from Monday night into early Tuesday, was led by troops of Sub-Sector 1A under Maj. M. Babalola, according to security intelligence platform Zagazola Makama.
Acting on credible intelligence, the force targeted a hideout belonging to notorious bandit leader known as “Full Fire.”
The team stormed the location around 3:45 a.m. and engaged the armed group in a firefight.Though Full Fire escaped, one bandit was neutralized.Recovered items included:
Two AK-47 rifles
One G3 rifle
Five AK-47 magazines
One G3 magazine
One hand grenade
Two Baofeng radios
162 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition
One motorcycle.
Troops continue to exploit the area, with sources reporting high morale and sustained operational momentum.
