According to a report from The New York Times, NBA Commissioner, Adam Silver, confirmed the passing of Lenny Wilkens.

The New York Times report states that the statement released didn’t reveal the circumstances surrounding the NBA star’s passing.

Born in October 28, 1937, in Brooklyn, New York, Lenny Wilkens played for St. Louis Hawks, Seattle SuperSonics, Cleveland Cavaliers and Portland Trail Blazers

He coached Seattle SuperSonics, Portland Trail Blazers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Atlanta Hawks, Toronto Raptors, New York Knicks

Additionally , Lenny Wilkens boasts of 3-time Basketball Hall of Famer, NBA champion (1979), Olympic gold medalist (1996), Coach of the Year (1994)

Notably, Wilkens is one of the most successful coaches in NBA history, with 1,332 wins and 5 NBA championships as a player and coach.

He leaves behind his wife, Marilyn whom he tied the knot with in 1961 and their two children, Levar and Randi.

Lenny Wilkens commenced his NBA career in 1960 as a player with the St. Louis Hawks.

He came to the spotlight in the 1960s as a dominant point guard, playing for the St. Louis Hawks and later leading the Seattle SuperSonics to an NBA championship in 1979 as a player-coach.

This cements his legacy as one of the greatest coaches and players in NBA history.
