Nigerian Police superintendent  bags peace award

Superintendent of Police Ibrahim Saleh Gwandi has been honoured with Honorary Doctorate Degree from American Management University California USA and Peace Icon Award in recognition of his contributions to peacebuilding, community development, and national unity.

The award ceremony, held in Abuja over the weekend, was part of the 15th Peace Achievers International Conference and Awards, organised by the Davdan Peace and Advocacy Foundation in collaboration with the Peace Ambassador Agency.

This year’s edition, which marked the 15th anniversary of the initiative, celebrated distinguished Nigerians who have made notable impacts in various sectors.

Blueprint reports that the theme for the 2025 conference was “Peace Building Through Sectoral Partnerships: Public and Private Sector Collaboration.”

Speaking during the event, Project Director Ambassador Kingsley Amafibe said the annual award has, over the years, become a platform for recognizing individuals who have shown outstanding commitment to promoting peace, national unity, and social change.

“The Peace Achievers International Awards is more than just a recognition platform , it’s a movement dedicated to fostering peace and advocating for change in Nigeria. We ensure our awardees are genuinely deserving, based on their service to humanity and the nation, regardless of ethnic or religious affiliations,” Amafibe stated.

He said that the non-profit organization channels support from its partners into projects that benefit underprivileged members of society.

Receiving the award, Superintendent Ibrahim Saleh Gwandi expressed gratitude to the organizers for the recognition, describing it as a motivation to continue promoting peace through both public service and entrepreneurship.

“My vision is to build businesses that not only thrive economically but also contribute positively to society through sustainable practices and innovative solutions,” Gwandi said.

“I believe leadership in business must align with conflict resolution and social responsibility. Through my ventures, I aim to empower communities, create jobs, and foster collaboration that promotes both economic growth and global understanding.”

He emphasized that collective efforts toward peace and ethical leadership can create a future where “business success and social harmony are inextricably linked.”

The Peace Achievers International Awards is an annual event that celebrates individuals and organizations across Nigeria and Africa for their exemplary service to humanity, peace promotion, and commitment to nation-building.
