Barcelona sporting director Deco has confirmed the club will not trigger Marcus Rashford’s buy option before next summer, despite the Englishman’s strong start to life in La Liga.

Instead, Deco revealed the club will prioritize other strategic moves in the January transfer window.

Rashford, who joined Barcelona on loan from Manchester United after losing his place under Ruben Amorim, has enjoyed a revival under Hansi Flick.

His pace, sharp decision-making, and renewed confidence have made him a standout performer this season, highlighted by his assist in El Clasico and a brace in the Champions League against Olympiacos.

The 28-year-old has flourished in the absence of Raphinha, cementing his place as the club’s first-choice left winger.

His resurgence has also earned him a recall to the England squad, with strong prospects of making Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup team next year.

Deco explains Barcelona’s financial position

Despite Rashford’s form, Deco made it clear that the club’s current financial health rules out any permanent transfer in January.

“If we are doing well and there are no surprises, I don’t think it’s necessary,” he said during a media briefing at Camp Nou. “We know where we can improve and the difficulties we face.”

Following Barcelona’s 3-1 win over Elche, Rashford said he was pleased with his progress but remains focused on improving.
