Kaduna: St. Anne’s old pupils raise N15m for dilapidated facilities at alma mater

Old pupils of St. Anne’s School, Kaduna, have raised ₦15 million to rebuild dilapidated facilities at their alma mater during the association’s recent Annual General Meeting and Fundraising Dinner in Kaduna.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of St. Anne’s Old Pupils Association (SAOPA), Mrs. Veronica Ogbole, said the gesture reflected the old students’ resolve to give back to the school that shaped them and  provide current pupils with a sense of belonging.

She said part of the funds would go into constructing a new toilet facility, as the existing one has been in use since 1975, and building a new multipurpose hall.

“We are connected by the shared experience of our alma mater, a place that shaped us and equipped us to contribute to the world in unique ways,” Ogbole said.

“That is why we plan to build a new toilet facility estimated at ₦58.6 million and a hall costing ₦550.6 million – our way of saying thank you to the school.”

She commended the outgoing interim executive led by Mr. Frank Obidu for organising the first election, registering the association with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), and fostering stronger unity among members.

Obidu, in his remarks, said the interim team organised the first AGM, strengthened member bonds, conducted transparent elections, and initiated projects to support the school.

Chairman of the occasion and Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, praised the initiative and recalled fond memories of his days at the school.
