Team Nigeria glow as 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games kicks off in Riyadh

Riyadh buzzed with excitement as athletes and officials from Nigeria, alongside 56 other member nations, arrived for the Islamic Solidarity Games 2025.

The Athletes’ Village came alive with color, music, and a spirit of unity with the grand opening ceremony on Friday night.

Team Nigeria’s camp received an extra boost on Thursday as Malam Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), touched down in Saudi Arabia.

On arrival, Dikko held strategic meetings with top sports officials and event organisers, fine-tuning competition readiness, delegation logistics, and collaboration strategies to give Nigerian athletes a competitive edge.

Highlighting Nigeria’s commitment to excellence through the RHINSE Framework, which emphasised technical preparation, athlete welfare, and administrative precision, Dikko reinforced the country’s determination not just to participate but to excel.

His visit, extended at the personal invitation of Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki Al Faisal Al Saud, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Sport and President of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation, underscores Nigeria’s growing influence on the continental sports stage.

With Team Nigeria ready to soar, the stage is set for a thrilling start at Riyadh 2025.
