Edo Police Storm Forest, Rescues 7 Kidnap Victims



Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have rescued seven farmers abducted in Ikeken Forest, Ewohimi, Esan South-East LGA, in a swift joint operation with the Nigerian Army and local vigilantes.

The breakthrough was announced on Saturday by Deputy Police Public Relations Officer Emem Ikoedem in Benin.

The victims—William Akhabue, Innocent Ebarekor, Rachel Ebarekor, Efuah Ebarekor, Winner Ebarekor, William Omozokpia (65), and Lucky Igiese (aka Bulala), were kidnapped on November 1, 2025, while working on their farms.Enoch Omozokpia had reported his father’s abduction, triggering an immediate response from the Ewohimi Divisional Police Officer.

Leading a coordinated assault, the team combed the dense forest, forcing the armed kidnappers to flee and abandon their captives.

All seven victims were rescued unharmed and reunited with their families.Commissioner of Police CP Monday Agbonika praised the bravery and synergy of the police, soldiers, and vigilantes.

“The Command remains committed to wiping out kidnapping and violent crime,” Ikoedem said, vowing relentless pursuit of the fleeing suspects.

Residents were urged to stay alert and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
