#AnambraElection2025: Soludo confident of landslide victory

Governor Chukwuma Soludo has expressed confidence that his party will secure a landslide victory in the ongoing Anambra governorship election, despite reports of vote buying in several parts of the state.

Soludo, who cast his vote at Ofeiyi Ward 19, Polling Unit 002, in Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area, at about 1:30 p.m., said he had received information suggesting that some candidates were offering money to voters in exchange for support.

Speaking to journalists after voting, the governor said the exercise had been generally peaceful, with voting materials and security personnel arriving on time in most polling units.

“Today is election day, and as expected, I’ve been getting calls from across the state. So far, the process has been relatively peaceful and going on smoothly,” Soludo said.

He acknowledged a few challenges, including reports of malfunctioning BVAS machines in areas such as Orumbanasa, but noted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had moved swiftly to address the issues.

Soludo, however, expressed concern over what he described as massive vote buying in Nnewi South Local Government Area, where a particular candidate was allegedly distributing cash to influence the outcome.

“We’ve received reports from Nnewi South, where we understand that a candidate is sharing ₦15,000 to voters. He appears desperate to win his local government. I said even if he shares ₦100,000, it doesn’t matter—let the people vote and let their votes count,” he stated.

The governor maintained that his party remains the people’s choice and expressed optimism that the final result would reflect the popular will.

“We are convinced that, based on one man, one vote, we are going to win by a landslide—no doubt about that,” he declared.
