A.A. Zaura’s Influence Grows As Ex-Council Boss, 2,000 Supporters Join APC

A major political shake-up has struck Ungoggo Local Government Area of Kano State as Hon. Sule Musa Kadawa, a former council chairman, led more than 2,000 of his followers in defecting from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defection, staged during a massively attended rally in Ungoggo, attracted crowds of supporters loyal to Alhaji Abdussalam Abdulkarim Zaura, popularly known as A.A. Zaura. The occasion took on a carnival atmosphere as party faithful, community leaders, and residents poured into the venue to celebrate the new members joining the APC family.

Hon. Kadawa, a respected grassroots politician and former council boss, said his decision to align with the APC was inspired by the leadership qualities, generosity, and community spirit consistently demonstrated by A.A. Zaura.

According to him, “A.A. Zaura’s good conduct and the assistance he rendered to the community are among the qualities that made me identify with him.”

He assured the party leadership of his readiness to collaborate with APC members within Ungoggo and across Kano State to further entrench the party’s dominance ahead of upcoming elections. “We are ready to unite with every APC supporter in Ungoggo and Kano as a whole,” he affirmed.

The mass defection marks another stride in A.A. Zaura’s steady rise as a political force within the Kano APC, especially in the Kano Central Senatorial District. Zaura, who has distinguished himself through extensive empowerment and humanitarian initiatives, was the APC’s senatorial candidate for Kano Central in the 2023 elections and remains one of the party’s most influential figures in the region.

Party faithful at the event described Kadawa’s entry as a significant boost to the APC’s consolidation drive in Ungoggo, portraying it as a reflection of the growing public confidence in the party’s leadership at both state and local levels.

With the steady inflow of defectors from the NNPP and PDP, political watchers say the APC’s support base in Ungoggo continues to expand rapidly, setting the stage for a more competitive political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
