Nigeria’s hope is in God, says NCPC boss Adegbite

The Executive Secretary, Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Bishop Stephen Adegbite, has declared that the “hope of Nigeria lies firmly in God.”

He made the declaration recently during a Conference of States meeting, comprising chairmen and executive secretaries of states’ Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, including the FCT, held at the NCPC Corporate Headquarters in Abuja.

This was contained in a statement by the Commission’s Head of Media and Public Relations, Celestine Toruka.

The statement indicated that Bishop Adegbite acknowledged the current difficulties and challenges facing the nation, but emphasised that “no adversity can destroy a country whose faith and unity remain rooted in God.”

He condemned groups attempting to incite attacks against both Muslims and Christians, asserting that such divisive actions would be defeated through unity and vigilance.

“Nigeria will not support any form of genocide. We acknowledge the efforts of our government in combating terrorism and have faith that our nation will overcome, as the President is on the right track,” he said.

He urged all stakeholders to continue working harmoniously and to remain steadfast in supporting government efforts towards national renewal, peace, and unity.

“We know the challenges before us, but we must stand together as one. Nigeria will overcome as long as we remain united and prayerful. Our strength lies in our collective faith.”

Bishop Adegbite expressed delight at the success of this year’s Easter pilgrimage exercise, describing it as a “remarkable testament to Nigeria’s spiritual resilience and divine favour despite recent events in Israel.”

He appreciated the state governments for their active sponsorships, disclosing that the Commission would honour outstanding states such as Imo, Plateau, Adamawa, Bauchi, and Delta “for their strong commitments to the pilgrimage initiative.”

On the NCPC’s commitment to strengthening partnerships, promoting unity, and upholding the country’s image, Bishop Adegbite said; “A tree cannot make a forest. Together, we will continue to lift our nation in prayer and in action until Nigeria takes her rightful place among the comity of nations.”

Earlier, the chairman of the Conference of States, Bishop David Moradeyo, prayed for the continued success of the Adegbite-led administration and, on behalf of the conference, congratulated him on his recent appointment as chaplain of the State House.
