Chief Solomon Ogbonna, the court mandated president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos State chapter, has disclosed that he has been ordered by the president-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief John Azuta-Mbata, to conduct elections into the executive council of the state chapter of the organization.
Speaking in an interview in Lagos, Ogbonna said that his tenure of office will end in April next year and that he will conduct elections to elect those that will succeed him.
He stated that he has set up an electoral committee headed by Chief Oliver Akubueze, former president of the organization in Lagos State.
When Daily Independent reminded him that the Chief Sunday Ossai-led president of Ohanaeze is also planning to hold elections, Ogbonna retorted that Ossai did not have the mandate to conduct any elections in the state chapter.
Ogbonna said any financial member of Ohanaeze is free to buy form and content in the coming elections.
