U.S. President Donald Trump has issued another strong warning to Nigeria in a newly released video, expressing deep anger over the continuous attacks on Christians in the country.
According to a report obtained by Instablog, Trump described the ongoing killings of Christians in Nigeria as a “horrible massacre” allegedly carried out by radical Islamist groups.
In a strongly worded message, he urged that Nigeria be classified as a “Country of Particular Concern” (CPC) under U.S. law, a designation reserved for nations accused of allowing severe violations of religious freedom.
“Christianity is facing a serious threat in Nigeria. Thousands and thousands are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this bloodshed. When Christians or any faith group are slaughtered like this, something must be done, Trump said.”
He revealed that he has asked the U.S. Congress, together with West Virginia Treasurer Riley Moore, to urgently investigate the matter and report back “without delay.”
Trump made it clear that the United States will not remain silent while such violence continues in Nigeria and other parts of the world.
“The United States cannot stand by while these atrocities happen. We stand ready, willing, and able to protect our Christian population across the world. The killing of Christians must stop, he said.”
The president went further to issue a stern warning, hinting at possible U.S. military action if the Nigerian government fails to end the attacks.
“We’re going to do things to Nigeria that Nigeria won’t be happy about. If we act, it will be fast, fierce, and decisive. We will completely wipe out the terrorists responsible for these crimes, Trump declared.”
Trump’s latest comments have reignited global attention on the growing reports of violence against Christians in Nigeria, with many now watching closely to see whether the U.S. will take further steps following his threat.
