Victor Osimhen delivers a masterclass performance as his stunning hat-trick powered Galatasaray to a crucial victory over Ajax, at Johan Cruijff ArenA.
Under the floodlights, Galatasaray wasted no time asserting control, enjoying nearly 75% possession in the early exchanges.
Ajax struggled to cope with the Turkish champions’ intensity, with Leroy Sané and Gabriel Sara constantly threatening down the wings.
The breakthrough came in the 59th minute, when Sané delivered a precise cross for Osimhen to head home, putting Galatasaray deservedly in front. The goal was confirmed after a brief VAR review.

Drama and double penalty delight
The game soon descended into drama, as Galatasaray were awarded two penalties following handball incidents inside the box.
The first came in the 63rd minute against Youri Baas, and the second in the 76th minute against Gerald Alders.
Osimhen coolly converted both spot kicks, one sending goalkeeper Remko Pasveer the wrong way, the other narrowly sneaking past his dive, sealing his hat-trick by the 79th minute.
Ajax’s frustration was evident as Davy Klaassen and Anton Gaaei both picked up yellow cards for rash challenges, while manager Johnny Heitinga was booked for dissent.

Tactical changes, same outcome
Despite Ajax’s late substitutions, including Wout Weghorst and Rayane Bounida, the Dutch side failed to find a way back into the game.
Galatasaray’s midfield trio of Mario Lemina, Lucas Torreira, and Wilfried Singo dominated proceedings, breaking up play and dictating the game.
In the final moments, Osimhen was substituted to a standing ovation, walking off with the match ball, a fitting souvenir for his ruthless display.
A Night to remember
By full time, the stats told the story: Galatasaray had 52% possession, double Ajax’s shots on target, and complete control throughout.
