The Yobe State Executive Council meeting, held today at the Government House in Damaturu, was presided over by Governor Mai Mala Buni.
The meeting deliberated on and approved numerous people-oriented projects aimed at enhancing the well-being of the state’s citizens.
Briefing newsmen on the outcome of the meeting, Commissioner of Finance, Mohammed Abacha, disclosed that he presented a memo on the Public Finance Law.
According to him, the memo urged the council to make it mandatory for all appointees to familiarize themselves with the law following their swearing-in to ensure accountability in governance.
Abacha further explained that the law would be included as part of the curriculum during promotion exams conducted by the Office of the Head of Service for civil servants.
This, he said, would enhance their understanding of the law and promote transparency in public finance management.
The Commissioner expressed optimism that the implementation of the law would bring about positive change in the state’s financial management and ultimately benefit the people of Yobe.
The meeting’s outcome reflects the Governor’s commitment to good governance and his determination to prioritize the needs of the state’s citizens.
On his part, Kaigama Umar, Commissioner of Commerce revealed that the Council has ratified for the execution of various projects at the Morden Markets in Yunusari and Ngalda, resuscitating the Polythene and Bag Company Damaturu as well as construction of drainages leading to river bank in Ngalda new Market.
Commissioner Yobe State Ministry of Works, Umar Wakil Duddaye similarly lamented that the Council has ratified on the project for the construction of roads within Potiskum town from Rigan Fulani leading to Nahuta Gombe road.
According to him, this is part of Governor Buni’s initiative for opening up urban areas and providing alternative access roads for motorists.
Dr. Mohammed Lawan Gana Commissioner Ministry for Health and Human Services disclosed that the Council similarly ratified for the provision of medical equipment in Hospitals and rehabilitation of General Hospital Nangere and other health facilities across the state.
