Ebonyi first lady gifts boy, mother N1m, house


The Wife of Ebonyi state Governor, Mrs Mary-Maudlinr Nwifuru has gifted and indigent boy Chinonso Agbo and the mother N1 million.

She equally promised to  give Chinonso’s mother a house.

Mrs. Nwifuru disclosed this at Ngbo Central School, Ohaukwu local government area of Ebonyi state during the grand finale of the two-year stewardship and constituency project commissioning of the member representing Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency, Pastor Eze Nwachukwu Eze.

Blueprint gathered that young Chinonso Agbo was said to have been celebrating the coming of the First Lady to the area with a dance.

Luck smiled on him as the Special Assistant to the Governor on Power and Energy, Hon. Chinedu Awo drew attention of the governor’s to young Agbo.

Young Agbo came from a very poor background and has never step his foot on any school.

Mrs. Nwifuru while concluding her speech at the program said, ” I was told that there was this boy who has been celebrating that the governor’s wife was coming to Ngbo.

“I saw the boy dancing throughout the event, and something in me said I should bless him.

 “When I asked if he was in school, he said he had never attended one. I decided to support him and his mother with ₦1 million to help him start school. I believe it was his spirit that brought me here today,” Awo told journalists.

Moved by the boy’s story, the First Lady, Mrs. Nwifuru, who was the special guest of honour at the event, immediately pledged to build a new house for the family.

“Empowerment is the foundation of sustainable development.

 “When you empower a person, especially a woman or a child, you are not only improving one life but transforming an entire community. This child’s story reminds us that compassion and opportunity can truly change lives,” the governor’s wife said.

The event also featured the commissioning of a fully furnished and equipped ultra-modern hospital at Ekwashi Ngbo, facilitated by Eze Nwachukwu Eze to promote peaceful coexistence between the Ngbo and Agila communities in Ebonyi and Benue states respectively.

In his address,  Eze outlined his achievements in the last two years, which include infrastructural projects, scholarships, agricultural support, and legislative efforts toward establishing a Federal University of Environment in Ebonyi State.

He reaffirmed his commitment to accountable representation and grassroots empowerment, saying his focus remains on “projects that directly touch lives and bring government closer to the people.”
