Paul Onuachu Wins Turkish Super Lig Player Of The Month For October, Osimhen Chases Record

Super Eagles of Nigeria striker, Paul Onuachu has been voted the Turkish Super Lig Player of the Month for October following his impressive performances for Trabzonspor.

Paul Onuachu was in fine form throughout the month, scoring two goals and providing an assist in three league games. His contributions helped Trabzonspor stay unbeaten with two wins and a draw.

Onuachu saw off competition from eight other nominees, including Rafa Silva, Andre Onana, Milan Skriniar, Marco Asensio, Orkun Kokcu, Ederson Moraes, Wilfred Singo, and Davinson Sanchez. The winner was chosen through fan voting.

It has been a remarkable season so far for the 31-year-old, who has also picked up the Goal of the Month award twice already. Onuachu has found the net seven times and provided one assist in 11 league matches for the Black Sea Storm.

Osimhen Chases Obafemi Martins’ European Goal Record Ahead of Ajax Clash

Victor Osimhen is on the brink of equalling Obafemi Martins’ record as Nigeria’s top scorer in European competitions when Galatasaray face Ajax in the UEFA Champions League at the Johan Cruyff Arena tonight.

Martins, who starred for Inter Milan during his playing days, currently holds the record with 23 goals in European club competitions. Osimhen, who has scored 22 goals so far in Europe, needs just one to draw level with the former Super Eagles forward.

The Galatasaray striker has netted 12 times in the Champions League and 10 in the Europa League across his spells with Lille, Napoli, and now the Turkish champions.

A goal against Ajax would see Osimhen match Martins’ tally, while two goals would make him Nigeria’s all-time leading scorer in European club football.

Naija News reports that the 26-year-old Nigeria international has been in blistering form, recently becoming the first Galatasaray player ever to score in eight straight European matches after his brace in the 3-1 win over Bodo/Glimt in October.
