Police Rescue Suspected Vandal From Mob In Lagos


A suspected vandal, Umar Biliaminu, was rescued by the Lagos State Police Command from a mob after allegedly being caught stealing barbed wire in the Iju area of the state.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the command, shared the information on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday.

“At about 8:40pm on August 21, 2025, Umar Biliaminu was caught while carting away barbed wire on a perimeter fence in Iju area of Lagos State,” Hundeyin stated.

He further explained that Biliaminu stabbed one of the people trying to catch him with a pair of scissors, provoking the mob’s violent response.

“This prompted mob action on him. Patrol officers from Iju Police Division raced to the scene and rescued him,” he said.

Hundeyin added that investigations are underway to identify and prosecute those who assaulted the suspect.

“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend those behind this barbaric act of jungle justice. Say NO to jungle justice!” Hundeyin wrote.
