FCT, Abuja – The Department of State Services (DSS) on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, announced that it has dismissed 115 personnel “over a period”.
According to the Nigerian secret police in a statement shared on its verified X (formerly known as Twitter) page, the dismissals are part of the ongoing reforms in the agency.

DSS sacks 115 personnel
The DSS’ statement reads:
“In addition to earlier disclaimers on the duo of Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, the Service finds it necessary to warn citizens of the fraudulent activities of some of these persons still posing as DSS personnel. Members of the public are therefore advised to desist from any official dealing with these individuals who have been dismissed by the Service.”
It added:
“For the sake of clarity, the identities of the dismissed personnel have been published on the website of the Service (http://dss.gov.ng). For requests, enquiries or complaints, the Service can be reached on 09088373515, or via email: dsspr@dss.gov.ng.”

DSS’ role in Nigeria
DSS is a security agency in Nigeria and one of three successor organisations to the National Security Organisation (NSO). The agency is under the presidency of Nigeria, and it reports its activities direct to the President, Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), headquartered in Abuja.
Its main responsibilities are within the country and include counter-intelligence, medical intelligence, economic intelligence, internal security, counter-terrorism, and surveillance as well as investigating some other types of serious crimes against the state. It is also charged with the protection of senior government officials, particularly the President, Vice President, state governors and visiting heads of states and governments with their respective families.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the DSS provided updates on the prosecution of major terror suspects.
Per a statement dispatched by Favour Dozie, deputy director, Public Relations and Strategic Communications of the DSS, and obtained by Legit.ng, the Nigerian secret police vowed to continue to make the suspects accountable for disrupting the nation’s peace.
The updates from the DSS come amid recent threats from US President Donald Trump to unleash America’s military on Nigerian ‘Islamic terrorists’.
