Bayern Munich File Official Protest Over ‘Unacceptable’ Paris Police Measures Ahead Of PSG Clash

Bayern Munich have filed an official complaint with UEFA after accusing French police of imposing “unacceptable” and “surprising” security restrictions ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain.

The German club said in a statement that the measures, introduced at short notice by the Paris police prefecture, made it unnecessarily difficult for their travelling fans to attend the game.

Among the new rules, Bayern supporters’ buses were ordered to remain outside the French capital until police escorts could accompany them to and from the Parc des Princes.

The decree also required all fans to use public transport to reach the stadium, while buses would not be allowed to leave the Paris region until around 5am on Wednesday, several hours after the match, which ends around 11pm.

“For FC Bayern, the short notice of the decree is unacceptable, as all the relevant information has been available for weeks,” the club said in its statement. Bayern also noted that PSG were supportive of their protest.

The decision by French authorities has revived memories of the 2022 Champions League final between Real Madrid and Liverpool at the Stade de France, when poor crowd control and heavy-handed policing led to dangerous overcrowding and long delays.

That final was delayed by nearly 40 minutes as fans were trapped in bottlenecks outside the venue, with many being tear-gassed by police. Former interior minister Gérald Darmanin initially blamed Liverpool fans for the chaos, accusing many of arriving without valid tickets. He later apologised, admitting, “we got the measures wrong” and “it was a failure.”

An independent report later found UEFA “primarily responsible” for the operational failures that almost turned the night into a “mass fatality catastrophe.” The investigation called it “remarkable” that no one lost their life.

The PSG vs Bayern Munich clash will kick off at 9 p.m. (WAT) tonight, November 4.

Trent Alexander-Arnold Mural Defaced Ahead of Liverpool Reunion

A mural of Trent Alexander-Arnold near Anfield has been vandalised just hours before the defender’s return to face his former club with Real Madrid.

The artwork, painted in 2019 to celebrate Liverpool’s Champions League triumph, was defaced for the second time this year. The word “Rat” was scrawled repeatedly across the mural, along with the phrase “adios el rata.” White paint was also splashed over the image before being quickly cleaned off by locals.

Some Liverpool fans have expressed anger over Alexander-Arnold’s decision to join Real Madrid after his contract expired in June. The 27-year-old, who came through Liverpool’s academy, will play against his boyhood club for the first time since the move.

On Monday, he was among the Real Madrid delegation that visited the Anfield memorial for Diogo Jota, laying flowers in tribute to his late former teammate.

Speaking ahead of the game, Alexander-Arnold said, “Whatever way I’m received is the decision of the fans. I’ll always love the club, I’ll always be a fan of the club. I’ll always be thankful for the opportunities and the things we achieved together, they’ll live with me forever.”

During his time at Liverpool, he lifted the Champions League, two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, and the EFL Cup.

The Liverpool vs Real Madrid Champions League clash will kick off at 9 p.m. (WAT) tonight, November 4.
