A video of the driver involved in the string of rape cases had gone viral on social media, prompting the Lagos State Police Command to launch an investigation.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the manhunt for other suspects.
She disclosed that the taxi driver was arrested by crack detectives and smart operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Lagos.
She confirmed that the arrest followed strict directives from the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olorundare Jimoh, who instructed a detailed and discreet investigation into the victims’ complaints.
SP Adebisi said the painstaking investigation by the police joint investigation teams resulted in the arrest of the suspect, whom she described as a “vicious and very notorious suspect,” on October 31, 2025, at about 9:40 am.
She said the operational vehicle used by the suspect, a red Toyota Corolla with registration number JJJ 226 HT, was recovered.
The vehicle has been secured as an exhibit for use in the prosecution of the suspect, who is currently in police detention, she added.
