The police high command says it has not mandated any of its officers to procure any training manual or handbook or booklet for whatever reasons.
The Force specifically clarified that any officer willing to get any training handbook can voluntarily do so.
Daily Trust reports that the clarification comes on the heels of a report circulating around that police personnel were mandated to pay N2,000 each for the purchase of a book.

The book, titled: “Attitudinal Change Handbook for Nigeria Police Force”, was dedicated to the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
In a letter dated 28th May, 2025, the police said the book was only meant for willing officers who want it voluntarily.
The letter partly read, “I am directed to introduce Dr Joseph Danley, author of the handbook ‘Attitudinal Change Handbook for Nigeria Police Force’ and convey the approval of the Inspector-General of Police, to enable him directly market the Handbook to interested police officers who may wish to voluntarily procure same.”
When contacted, the spokesman of the Force, Benjamin Hundeyin, told our Correspondent in a telephone interview that the Force did not give directives to officers verbally.
Hundeyin, a Chief Superintendent of Police, also dismissed report saying officers were compelled to pay N2,000 for a handbook.
He said the directive on the handbook was documented and it was clear, arguing that no officer was mandated to procure any handbook.
“The thing is, police don’t give directives to its officers verbally. Every directive is documented. I don’t think you will find any document that will compel police officers to buy a handbook”, the senior cop explained.
