Gary Neville has dismissed Manchester City’s chances of winning the Premier League, insisting Liverpool are the only team capable of denying Arsenal the title this season.

The Gunners extended their lead at the top with a 2-0 victory over Burnley on Saturday, courtesy of first-half goals from Viktor Gyokeres and Declan Rice, their ninth straight win in all competitions and seventh consecutive clean sheet.

Neville confident Arsenal will go all the way

Speaking to NBC Sports, the former Manchester United and England defender said he is “confident” Mikel Arteta’s side will end the club’s 22-year title drought, citing their balance, depth, and consistency.

“Arsenal are the best team in the league right now,” Neville said. “They’ve been building toward this moment for three or four seasons.

“Every position is properly covered, and even if one or two players drop out, there’s no major dip in quality. They would have to beat themselves not to win it.”

Neville added that unlike previous seasons, Arsenal no longer rely on a single player to make the difference.

“Bukayo Saka used to be the one they couldn’t afford to lose, but now the squad has enough depth to cope.”

City dismissed, Liverpool back in focus

The eight-time Premier League winner ruled out Manchester City, claiming Pep Guardiola’s side have lost their edge despite his tactical brilliance.

“I don’t think City will reach their previous levels this season,” he noted. “Pep’s a genius, but he doesn’t have the team playing with the same dominance.”

Instead, Neville identified Liverpool as the only credible threat, but warned that Arne Slot’s men must rediscover consistency quickly after a poor run of results.

“Liverpool can challenge, but they need to get back on track fast,” he said.

Arsenal last lifted the Premier League trophy under Arsène Wenger’s Invincibles in 2004.
