In line with its avowal to the protection of the environment, the Aviation Lions Club paid a service visit to the Bassa Airport community in Abuja.
The visit which is in consonance with their July activity for the 2025/26 Lions Service year saw members of the club turning-in in their numbers to participate in the cleaning of the community as well as donating some cleaning reagents and supplies to the community.
In his speech, Chris Najomo, the Charter president of the club, stated that it was a welcomed-long-overdue debt and that he was glad that Aviation Lions Club was there to fill in the gap.
He stressed that while the government is trying its best to reach out to its citizenry, that government alone cannot shoulder all the responsibilities of providing for all the needs of the masses.
As a result, he emphasised there is a need for service organisations like Aviation Lions Club and others, as well as private individuals to step in to continue where the government stops.
Nigeria, he said, belongs to every one of us, hence we should foster the spirit of one love and take responsibilities for one another. That is the only way we can ensure the peace and progress of this country and the world at large.
“We are here today to help the Bassa Airport Community to imbibe the culture of a clean environment; making them understand the health hazards of an unclean and unhygienic environment as well as the health benefits of a clean environment.”
Najomo advised the community members to take full possession of their environment as they would be the ones to bear the consequences of a neglected environment, promising that as time and chance permits, the club might still pay them another visit. Always keep your environment clean, he maintained.
