The Rotary International District Governor 9127 Dame Joy okoro, has reaffirmed the organisation’s unwavering commitment to the global fight against polio.
Dame Joy who gave the assurance on Friday , during her official visit to a joint meeting of the Rotary Clubs of Abuja Lugbe FHA Estate as part of her ongoing tour of clubs under the district, pledged continued support for awareness campaigns and community-driven health initiatives across the district.
She commended members for their dedication to Rotary’s humanitarian ideals and urged them to remain steadfast in the collective effort to end polio worldwide .
” Rotary International has a major, long-standing advocacy campaign against polio through its global PolioPlus program.
“Rotary was the first organization to envision a polio-free world and is a founding partner of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI)”, she said .
Speaking at the event, the President of the Rotary Club of Abuja Lugbe FHA Estate, Rotarian Engr. Tunmise Adepoju, highlighted some of the club’s key community projects, including educational scholarships, polio awareness campaigns, and local community support programmes.
He reiterated the club’s resolve to sustain its efforts, particularly in polio sensitisation and eradication drives.
Also present were Rtn. Ande Philips Ikaa, Assistant Governor, District 9127 Nigeria, and Rtn. Adeyemi Joy, the Immediate Past President of the Lugbe Club, both of whom commended the club leadership for initiating impactful projects and maintaining Rotary’s commitment to service above self.
