Kano Targets 10m Permanent Voter Cards – Independent Newspaper Nigeria


KANO – Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Friday gave a matching order to a newly inaugurated Committee on Voters Registration and Civic Awareness to ensure it registered not less than 10 millions voters in the ongoing registration of voters.

Speaking while inaugurating a 36-Member Voters Mobilization Registration, in his office, the State Secretary to the Government, Alhaji Faruk Umar Ibrahim, said, “You should know that your exercise is a harculian task that required diligence and dedicated duties”.

He said, their jobs is to monitor all the polling units to ensure that citizens collect their Voter card, as further advised them to liaise with INEC to ensure that Cards are available.

Umar Faruk said: “Your mandate is to ensures that Kano registered additional 5 Million Voters by the end of the exercise.

“As at today, Kano is the most populous state in the federation with high political awareness, we expect those who were earlier disenfranchised to seized this opportunity for better.

“You should know that Voters Registration is no longer a civic responsibility but a compulsory one for us as people, and your duties is to ensure no eligible voters are left out.

“Governor Yusuf is watching you and it is only through the Voter Registration that Kano will elect Leaders of integrity that have passion for development.”

Responding the Chairman of the Committee and who is the State Commissioner for Information Ibrahim Waiya, said they considered the assignment a call to service and they would not disappoint the Governor.
