A socio-cultural organisation in Igala land, Ane Igala Restoration (AIR), has commended President Bola Tinubu on his choice of Major General Waidi Shaibu as the Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

A message of congratulations signed by the national president of the association by Dr Ocholi Odekina, on Monday, said Major General Waidi Shaibu’s appointment is well deserved and that President Tinubu has indeed made the right choice.

The statement noted that the organisation is proud of Shaibu’s appointment because it is a testament of his professional training, operational experiences and dedicated services to the country.

“Your professional training, operational experiences and dedicated services to our country attest to the diligent choice made by the president. We wish to implore you to bring to bear on your newest assignment your total dedication and utmost loyalty for which the Igala race is renowned.

“We appreciate the president who without sentiment has adjudged you worthy of this exalted office. We pray that God would imbibe you with wisdom to excel in preferring successful and enduring strategies to tackle both the internal and external security challenges facing the nation, including your native land,” the statement said.
