NOA Launches N22.5m Animation Award To Promote Nigerian Values

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has launched a new animation award worth N22.5 million to encourage creative storytelling that promotes Nigeria’s national identity and values.

The Director-General of the agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, said the initiative is part of the Nigerian Identity Project, designed to reinforce the ideals enshrined in the National Values Charter (NVC).

“The NVC outlines seven national promises and seven citizen codes that define who we are and the values that unite us. Through this award, we invite animators to express these ideals through the powerful art of storytelling,” Issa-Onilu stated.

He explained that the 2026 edition of the competition will run under the theme, “Who is a Real Nigerian?” — a reflective call on the resilience, optimism, and creativity that define the Nigerian spirit.

According to him, participants are expected to produce short animated films not exceeding three minutes, using 2D, 3D, or stop-motion techniques.

The top three winners will receive cash prizes of N10 million, N7.5 million, and N5 million respectively. Winning entries will also enjoy nationwide broadcast exposure for three months following the 2026 LIFANIMA Award Night.

Issa-Onilu added that the competition is open exclusively to Nigerian citizens and aims to empower creators while fostering national pride and unity.
