FCT Police Capture Notorious Kidnap Kingpins, Seize Firearms, N7.4M Cash

Operatives of the FCT Police Command have apprehended two notorious kidnapping masterminds, Masud Abdullahi, from Karu LGA, Nasarawa State, and Muhammad Tahir, from Jos, Plateau State, following a high-stakes counter-kidnapping operation.

According to CSP Josephine Adeh, the command’s spokesperson, the arrests stemmed from a report on August 16, 2025, at around 12:05 a.m., detailing a kidnapping syndicate’s invasion of an estate in Karu, Abuja.

The armed group forcibly entered the residence of Barrister Henry Chichi, abducting him to an undisclosed location.

Swift action by the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit applied relentless pressure on the criminals, securing the victim’s safe release on August 17, 2025, at approximately 9:05 p.m.

In a subsequent operation, with support from the Nasarawa State Police Command, the suspects were intercepted along the Guraku axis of the Nasarawa-FCT Highway after their vehicle, a red Opel Vectra (registration: BLD 566 AT), lost control.

While some gang members fled, Abdullahi and Tahir were captured. The duo led police to their hideout in Karshi Forest, Nasarawa State, where another accomplice, Kabiru Jibril, aged 22, was arrested.

Recovered items included N7.4 million in cash, three AK-47 rifles with magazines, one G3 rifle with a magazine, sixteen rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, and a Tecno handset.

FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao S. Adewale, praised the operatives’ bravery and professionalism, reiterating the Command’s dedication to resident safety.

Efforts to capture the remaining fugitives are ongoing.
