Anambra AAC gov candidate promises N100,000 minimum wage

The governorship candidate of the African Action Congress in the November 8, 2025, governorship election in Anambra State, Chioma Ifemeludike, has vowed to address the issue of workers’ welfare in the state, promising to increase the minimum wage in to N100,000.

Ifemeludike said it is not a political promise, but a practical commitment, adding that by cutting unnecessary government expenses and investing wisely in agriculture and internal revenue growth, the AAC can achieve this and sustain it.

The AAC governorship hopeful stated this in a press statement she released on Monday, while appreciating the conveners of the just-concluded governorship debate in the state.

The debate conducted by Creative Mind Centre for Youth and Community Development in collaboration with Active Citizens Media, held in Awka, on Friday, had some governorship candidates in attendance.

Ifemeludike noted that the governorship debate provided the candidates with an opportunity to share their ideas and connect with the people of Anambra.

The statement read in part, “The Chioma4Governor Campaign Team expresses deep appreciation to the Creative Mind Centre for Youth and Community Development in collaboration with Active Citizens Media for organising the just-concluded governorship debate, a platform that allowed candidates to share their ideas and connect with Ndi Anambra.

“Chioma Ifemeludike, who once again demonstrated leadership built on clarity, courage, and practical solutions. Our campaign isn’t built on empty promises or politics as usual; it’s built on a realistic, achievable plan to make governance work for the people.

“During the debate, we shared our vision for a safer, smarter, and more inclusive Anambra. On security, I, Chioma Ifemeludike, made it clear that under my administration, we will launch a strong and professional Vigilante Agency that will undergo proper training to protect our people effectively.

“This agency will operate within the law, work closely with communities, and restore confidence in local security.

“On education, we reaffirmed our plan to revamp our schools by updating curriculums to meet modern standards and building infrastructure that supports quality learning. We will strengthen both formal and informal education, ensuring that every child, youth, and adult in Anambra has access to opportunities for growth and skill development.”

According to her, the AAC campaign also prioritises youth empowerment and job creation, adding that her government will invest in vocational and entrepreneurial training, giving young people the tools to build, create, and sustain businesses.

“By supporting our youth, we will reduce unemployment and stimulate the local economy. Agriculture remains a key pillar of our vision.

“We will mechanise farming, adopting modern methods and technology to replace outdated practices. Our administration will provide grants, loans, and modern equipment to farmers, enabling them to produce more efficiently and contribute to food security and economic growth.

“We also addressed the issue of workers’ welfare. I made it clear that under my leadership, the minimum wage in Anambra will be increased to ₦100,000.

“This is not a political promise but a practical commitment. By cutting unnecessary government expenses and investing wisely in agriculture and internal revenue growth, we can achieve this and sustain it,” she added.

She also added that her campaign stands for inclusivity and fairness, stating that persons with disabilities will not be left out of governance; they will have a voice at the decision-making table.

“I stated clearly that my administration will appoint qualified persons with disabilities to the cabinet because good governance must represent everyone.

“The reaction from the audience at the debate was deeply encouraging. Ndi Anambra connected with our message because it was not built on abstract promises but on practical, measurable, and human-centred plans.

“We did not just give them hope for a better Anambra, we showed them how we intend to build it,” the statement concluded.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission, 16 candidates from 16 political parties are contesting the governorship race on November 8, 2025, with the incumbent governor and the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Chukwuma Soludo, seeking reelection.
