Bryan Mbeumo scored twice as Manchester United sealed a third consecutive Premier League victory, defeating Brighton 4–2 at Old Trafford despite a late scare.
Brighton had dominated recent meetings between the sides, winning six of the previous seven and three straight at Old Trafford. But United ended that run in style, with goals from Matheus Cunha, Casemiro, and Mbeumo giving them a commanding lead before the visitors threatened a comeback.
Cunha opened his United account with a fine 20-yard strike, while Casemiro doubled the advantage through a deflected shot. Mbeumo added a third shortly after the restart to put the hosts in control.
However, Brighton hit back as Danny Welbeck’s free-kick and teenager Charalampos Kostoulas’ stoppage-time header set up a tense finish.
United’s nerves were eased when Mbeumo struck again in the dying moments to secure the points and lift Ruben Amorim’s side to fourth place in the Premier League table — their third straight win following last weekend’s victory at Liverpool.
