Matilda Ngbaronye: Popular police officer d!es


The Lagos State Police Command has announced the death of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Matilda Ngbaronye, who served as the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Festac Division.

In a statement released on Saturday, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said CSP Ngbaronye passed away on Friday after undergoing surgery at Mayriamville Medical Centre, Bode Thomas, Surulere.

Adebisi described her death as a great loss to the Command, noting that Ngbaronye was a disciplined and upright officer who carried out her duties with exceptional professionalism and integrity.

“She was renowned for her diligence, discipline, and commitment to duty. Her humane approach to policing greatly enhanced relations between the police and the public,” Adebisi said.

According to the statement, the late officer was never found wanting in the discharge of her responsibilities, and her passing came as a shock to officers and men of the Command.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olohumdare Jimoh, has extended condolences to Ngbaronye’s family and has personally reached out to her husband and elder brother, a priest, to offer the Command’s support.

Adebisi added that details of her burial arrangements would be made public later, while praying for her soul to rest in peace.
