Chaos Erupts at Jigawa Road Project Launch as Politicians Escape Mob Attack

Tarabu village in Kirikasamma Local Government Area, Jigawa State, in Wednesday, descended into chaos during the flag-off of a 23.4-kilometer road project from Tarabu to Gafta, led by Governor Umar Namadi Danmodi.

Prominent politicians, including Kirikasamma Local Government Chairman Alhaji Muhammad Maji and Hon. Abubakar Fulata, the representative for Guri/Kirikasamma/Birniwa Federal Constituency, narrowly escaped harm as angry youths attacked the event.

The violence broke out shortly after the ceremony, with enraged youths pelting stones at the governor’s convoy and vehicles belonging to government officials and police, causing significant damage.

Sources revealed that the unrest stemmed from local grievances against Hon. Fulata, whom the youths accused of neglecting his constituency and failing to deliver impactful projects compared to lawmakers from neighboring areas.

The incident marred what was meant to be a key part of Governor Namadi’s citizen engagement initiative.
