Sanwo-Olu, Fashola, Ambode Lead Lagos APC to Endorse Tinubu for Second Term



The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027, while launching mobilization efforts for the upcoming general election during a stakeholders’ meeting at Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

The meeting, attended by party leaders, traditional rulers, and elected officials, focused on reviewing the 2023 election setbacks, strategizing for ongoing voter registration, and mobilizing youths to align with the APC’s progressive vision. 

Tinubu, who governed Lagos from 1999 to 2007 and represented Lagos West in the Senate during the Third Republic, was praised as the architect of the state’s transformation.

The endorsement motion was moved by the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, and seconded by Lagos House of Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa. 

“President Tinubu has achieved significant milestones in two years, deserving continuity for Nigeria’s progress,” Shotobi said. 

Obasa echoed, urging party unity to secure Tinubu’s and APC’s victory in 2027.Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu reinforced the endorsement, stating, “Tinubu, Lagos’ 12th governor, has fulfilled many campaign promises. 

This unanimous decision reflects our confidence in his leadership.” Ministers Maruf Tunji Alausa (Education), Jumoke Oduwole (Trade and Industries), and Wale Edun (Finance) presented Tinubu’s achievements to justify his re-election bid, while Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat highlighted the Sanwo-Olu administration’s successes.

Senator Tokunbo Abiru, speaking for the National Assembly Caucus, lauded Tinubu’s visionary leadership, saying, “From transforming Lagos as governor to driving national reforms as president, Tinubu’s courage assures a brighter future. 

Lagos East and the APC proudly endorse him for 2027.”APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru, representing National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, emphasized the importance of not just registering voters but ensuring they vote. 

Former Governor Babatunde Fashola, in a presentation on voter apathy, raised concerns about the 30% voter turnout in 2023, urging the party to address why turnout is declining in Lagos. 

“Are our policies resonating? How effective is our reward system?” he asked, while stressing that “Renewed Hope should spark renewed enthusiasm.”

Party chairman Cornelius Ojelabi announced incentives of N1 million, N5 million, and N20 million for the unit, ward, and local government with the highest number of registered voters, respectively. 

“Your love for Tinubu and our leaders must translate to votes,” he said.The meeting saw prominent attendees, including Governance Advisory Council chairman Prince Oluyole Olusi, former governors Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode, Senators Wasiu Eshinlokun-Sanni and Idiat Adebule, and other key figures like James Faleke, Dayo Israel, and Isaacs Kekemeke. 

Fashola praised the party’s ideological foundation and past chairmen for their stewardship, while noting the opposition’s struggle to form a viable coalition.
