Armed Banditry: CDS, Sultan Commends Idris’ Resilience In Kebbi

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, have commended Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris for his efforts in combating armed banditry in the state. General Musa and Sultan Abubakar III praised Governor Idris’s commitment to curtailing the activities of armed bandits in Kebbi State, describing it as commendable and exemplary, which made him a role model for the present generation of politicians.

He further declared that ” disregard the social media fabricated falsehood and remain committed and focused “.
The dou made a statement at the conference of the General Assembly of Northern Traditional Rulers Council held in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday.

Governor Idris has provided 100 Hilux vehicles and 5,000 motorcycles to security agencies, along with regular financial support, to enhance their capacity to tackle security challenges.

The Governor’s collaboration with security agencies has yielded positive results, with the Sultan attributing the moderate successes achieved to the support of Defence Headquarters and political leaders, particularly all the Governor’s predecessors who have demonstrated their support for him, thereby making the Governor a role model for the present generation of politicians.

General Musa has identified the politicization of security issues as a major challenge hindering efforts to combat banditry.

The Chief of Defence Staff emphatically declared that the Nation’s armed forces are fully committed to democratic governance and will deal ruthlessly with any individual or group of individuals that attempt under any guise to truncate the democratic governance in the country.

In his address, Governor Idris reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies and debunked allegations of engaging a security consultant to address banditry, expressing confidence in the capacity of Nigerian security agencies.

Idris expressed satisfaction and gratitude to the Defence Headquarters and the Nigerian Police Force for their unflinching support and commitment, and declared he was prepared to do whatever it takes to ensure the safety of the lives of people and properties.

This recognition from the Defence Headquarters and the Northern Traditional Rulers Council further reinforces Governor Idris’s efforts to improve security in Kebbi State.

It could be recalled that last week the Progressive Governors forum had, at its quarterly meeting in Birnin Kebbi, commended the  Governor’s achievements in the provision of infrastructure and tackling the menace of armed banditry in the state.
