A young Nigerian medical doctor has shared his heartbreaking experience after thieves raided his home, carting away his household belongings, only for the police to advise him to “pray”.
The doctor, identified as @TheDrAfolarin on X, revealed that he returned from a work trip only to find his home in disarray, with valuables such as his television, freezer, fan, curtains, and sound system stolen.
According to him, efforts to fetch vital information about the perpetrators from his neighbours failed as they claimed to have been unaware of suspicious activities in his house.
Narrating his ordeal, he wrote:
“Traveled out of state to hustle. Came back home to pick some things only to realize my house has been forcefully broken into. TV, Freezer, fan, curtains, sound system and more gone. I’ve not even made half of this loss. May Nigeria never happen to you.
“NB: My house is the only one in the compound, fenced with barb wire. Neighbours in surrounding houses said they heard nothing. In fact, they were so surprised🥲🥲. Police said I should pray the thieves get apprehended. I rest my case. Again, may Nigeria never happen to you.”
His post has since attracted wide reactions on social media, with many Nigerians expressing sympathy while also criticising the police‘s response.
