Vincent Kompany was full of admiration for Harry Kane after the Bayern Munich striker reached another milestone in his illustrious career by scoring his 400th goal to seal a 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in Saturday’s Der Klassiker.
Kane’s first-half header proved decisive as Bayern extended their unbeaten run and tightened their grip at the top of the Bundesliga table.
Kompany impressed by Kane’s consistency
Kompany described Kane’s all-round performance as “outstanding,” praising his leadership, intelligence, and relentless goal-scoring form.
“Harry Kane can of course still improve, even though he has been more than brilliant so far for us,” the Belgian said post-match.

“Messi and Ronaldo set the bar so high that people think this kind of consistency is normal, but what Harry is doing is exceptional. He worked so hard for the team and was once again very important for us.”
The Bayern boss emphasized that some aspects of Kane’s game are simply innate. “I can’t teach Harry how to head the ball the way he does,” Kompany added.
“His timing and feel for space inside the box are things you can’t coach.”
Praise for Bayern’s fluid attack
Kompany also took pride in Bayern’s fluid attacking structure, which continues to confuse opponents.
“We want teams asking themselves, ‘Who is the striker? Who’s the playmaker?’ That’s when we know our system is working,” he explained.
Bayern’s movement and positional rotation caused constant problems for Dortmund’s defense throughout the match.
Despite the victory, Kompany acknowledged Dortmund’s performance. “We have to give them credit, they fought back well and forced us to stay alert,” he said. “Even when we lost control at times, we stuck together and managed the game with maturity.”
Kane’s strike, his 12th league goal of the season, inspired Bayern to an 11th straight win across all competitions, matching a record previously held by Dortmund under Tuchel.
The result keeps Bayern five points clear at the top, with a Champions League tie against Club Brugge up next.
