It was a day of fun and learning as members of Lagos Passionate Lions Club, District 404B2 Nigeria, visited staff and students of Down Syndrome Foundation, Alamutu Estate, Iju-Fagba, Lagos state.

In response to their monthly activity, Lagos Passionate Lions Club donated food and toiletries items to the foundation celebrating the students with love.

At the event, president Lagos Passionate Lions Club, Lion Uche Chigozie Okeke spoke about the program, “we are here to show care and support to members and staff of Down-syndrome Foundation by donating some food items and toiletries to them. This foundation is very unique on how it treats their members and for that we decided to look into their needs, although they had a long list but we were able to do some which we hope will take them a long way for the time being and we promise to visit again as time permits.”

‘As the President of Lagos Passionate Lions Club, I sincerely appreciate the dedication of staff in this Foundation and the unwavering support of our entire members. Your commitment, time, and resources made this program a resounding success. This is a testament to our shared belief that service to humanity is the best work of life,” she said.

To buttress the event, chairperson of August activity, Lion Okiemute Jane Adenowo spoke on the importance of sharing love with people having Down-syndrome, “Lions Club is all about serving the people and that is part of what we are doing at Down-syndrome Foundation, Iju Fagba. Many people look down on people with Down syndrome which is wrong. People with this condition also need love, care and support which we can see are being given to them by the foundation, unfortunately they can’t do everything hence our support to them and we hope in the near future we will give more to their needs, because where there’s a need, there’s a Lion.

‘I also will like to encourage family members with people having this condition, I know it’s not easy taking care of them but please don’t just leave them behind, they are also human beings and need our care and attention.”

In conclusion, president Down syndrome Foundation, Rose Mordi, appreciated the Lagos Passionate Lions Club for their support and looks forward to hearing from them again, “we at Down syndrome Foundation appreciates the donations given to us by the Lagos Passionate Lions Club. The donations show the care and love of the lions international club, which is what we need in the country currently. So many families don’t even understand this part which is a shame but we at Down syndrome Foundation thank more especially members of Lagos Passionate Lions Club for always putting people under this condition in mind as we look forward to hearing from them in the near future.”
