The ongoing crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has escalated, with the party’s National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, accusing unknown individuals of forging his signature on a critical document.
In petitions dated October 15 and submitted to the Department of State Services (DSS), the Inspector General of Police (IGP), and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on October 16, Anyanwu claimed he did not sign a letter dated August 29, which notified INEC of the PDP’s planned National Convention scheduled for November 15–16.
The petitions, obtained by PUNCH, highlight a deepening rift within the opposition party, raising concerns about the integrity of its internal processes and the potential disruption of the upcoming convention.
Anyanwu’s allegations of forgery have sparked fears that the crisis could undermine the PDP’s preparations for the convention, a pivotal event for the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of future elections.
The development has prompted calls for a thorough investigation by the DSS, IGP, and INEC to address the claims and ensure transparency.
