The Kano State Police Command has arrested a notorious gang of five fake police officers in Kano.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the arrest of the suspects in a statement on Saturday.
He said the suspects were apprehended during a special operation by operatives from the Command’s Special Intervention Squad on Thursday, 16th October 2025 at about 1:00pm.

“The State police command in a significant operation driven by credible intelligence. On 16th October 2025, at about 1:00 pm, operatives from the Command’s Special Intervention Squad (SIS) acted swiftly and arrested five suspects while parading themselves as Police Officers.
“He listed the fake officers as Aliyu Abbas, 35, Sani Iliyasu, 47, Ashiru Sule, 41, Abubakar Yahaya, 45 and Adamu Kalilu, 45.”
Haruna added that the “suspects were found in possession of several incriminating items, including a fake Police Warrant Card, Handcuffs, Two Thousand Five Hundred (2,500) in CFA, mutilated Naira notes of different denominations, and their operational vehicle, a blue Peugeot 406 with registration number NSR-188-BD.
“During the investigation, the suspects confessed to engaging in a series of impersonations, admitting to using the fake Police Warrant Card to extort innocent citizens and commit other nefarious activities in Kano, Katsina, and Kaduna states.”
He said as soon as the ongoing investigation was concluded, the suspects would be charged to court for appropriate prosecution.
In September, the same command arrested a suspect posing as a police officer and extorting members of the public.
While calling on members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station for prompt action, the State Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the Command’s committed to upholding law and order and will not tolerate any form of criminal impersonation or illegal activities.
