The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Enugu State Chapter, has commended the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for his decision to slash the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) and land fees by 50 percent across the state.
Recall that the Enugu State Government had, on Friday, October 17, through the Enugu State Geographic Information System (ENGIS), Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Chiwetalu Nwatu, slashed fees for the processing of Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) and other land-related documents by 50 percent.
The announcement, made by Mr. Nwatu, marks yet another milestone in the Mbah administration’s people-oriented and investment-friendly reform agenda. According to him, the discount window will run for 45 days, beginning from October 15, 2025, during which landowners and investors can process their C of O and other title documents at about half the usual cost.
The Council described the development as a welcome relief that will stimulate economic growth, encourage property ownership, and open up greater opportunities for both local and foreign investors.
Speaking on behalf of the youth constituency, the Chairman of the Council, Comrade Bartholomew Okoh, stated that the move will engender development and growth in the state, as investors will start investing in the state.
He called on investors, entrepreneurs, and real estate developers to take advantage of this window period to invest in Enugu State, adding that the new policy aligns with the Governor’s vision of building a more business-friendly environment.
Comrade Okoh also commended the State Government for setting up a task review committee, describing it as a proactive step towards ensuring accountability, efficiency, and the smooth implementation of government policies across various sectors.
He reiterated the commitment of NYCN Enugu State Chapter to partnering with the state government across all sectors, especially youth promotion, inclusion, economic empowerment, and sustainable development in Enugu State.
