Stakeholders have emphasised the importance of collaboration between the public and private sector to strengthen corporate governance and drive national transformation.
This message was the centre at the political economy and leadership summit 2025, themed: “Political Economy of Nation Building: The World’s Unfinished Business.” in Abuja, on Thursday.
The stakeholders asserted that public-private sector collaboration was crucial for corporate governance in Nigeria, as they shared their aspirations for economic growth through proper corporate governance.
Speaking, the President International Institute of Experts and Political Economy and Administration, Prof. Tunji John Asaolu, underscored the summit as a symbol of collective commitment to address one of the most pressing challenges facing the nation in this era of rapid change.
This summit, organised by the International Institute of Experts on Political Economy and Administration (IIEPEA) Canada, in collaboration with the United World Congress of Diplomats (UN-WCD), aimed to explore the complicated relationship between political economy and nation-building, the pathways to achieve Nigeria’s developmental goals.
He emphasised that the concept of the political economy of nation-building encapsulated the interplay between politics, economics, and societal factors in shaping governance and public policy.
He said: “It encompasses the systems, structures, and processes that drive economic growth while ensuring social justice and political stability, he said.”
He said the performance of nations has been profoundly influenced by political decisions, economic strategies, and the social fabric within which they operate.
We must acknowledge the substantial hurdles that hinder our progress Issues such as corruption, inequality, insufficient infrastructure, and governance challenges have obstructed our potential for growth.
According to him the global landscape is continually evolving, presenting new challenges such as climate change and technological tumults that demand innovative solutions and collaborative efforts.
He said, to navigate these complexities, we must harness a comprehensive approach that integrates political integrity, economic stewardship, and effective leadership,”
This summit also featured the induction of ambassadors in the capacity of special emissary into the United World Congress of Diplomats (UN-WCD).
The International Institute of Experts on Political Economy and Administration (IIEPEA – CANADA) and inducting some members as fellows issue a certificate of Confirmation as Global expert to some individuals who have successfully completed 35 credit hours in the Continuing Professional Development Programme (CPDP) and has fulfilled the rigorous International Standards Registration Requirements.
