Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Management, Festus Keyamo, has lauded Comrade Isaac Balami for establishing the Isaac Balami University of Aeronautics and Management (IBUAM), hailing it as a milestone that will boost support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Borno State.
Speaking at the university’s unveiling, Keyamo urged Balami to lead political mobilization efforts, declaring the “transfer season” open for new APC members and expressing confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s prospects for winning Borno in the 2027 elections.
Keyamo recounted Balami’s vision, shared shortly after his appointment as minister. “One of the first people who came to my office was Isaac Balami.
He told me about his plans for an MRO in Lagos and the Isaac Balami University,” Keyamo said, noting the conversation coincided with Balami’s 39th birthday.
He praised Balami’s determination, adding, “This is another feather in my cap as Minister. It aligns with President Tinubu’s vision for private sector growth and human capital development.”
IBUAM, described as Africa’s first university integrating a flying school, aviation training, and an aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility, was hailed as a “revolutionary achievement.”
Hon. Midala Balami, representing Askira Uba Federal Constituency, called Isaac Balami a symbol of resilience, stating, “This university has strengthened APC’s base in Borno and completed 40 to 50 percent of Tinubu’s 2027 campaign.”
Isaac Balami thanked President Tinubu, Keyamo, Seyi Tinubu, and NCAA Director-General Captain Chris Najomo for their support.
Reflecting on his humble roots, he said his parents sold properties to fund his education, driving his commitment to stay in Nigeria despite brain drain.
“This university, tied to an MRO in Lagos, aims to produce 21-year-old graduates ready to work globally without supervision,” he said, urging state governments and agencies to sponsor students through scholarships.
Profits, he added, would support community initiatives via his foundation.Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, announced scholarships for 100 female students, aligning with Tinubu’s gender inclusion goals.
The event drew senators, permanent secretaries, and industry leaders. IBUAM invited UTME candidates scoring 200 and above to register at https://www.ibuam.edu.ng, noting that scholarships will be funded by agencies like the NDDC and NEDC.
