Anambra Guber 2025: Soludo Warns Against Breaking Zoning Peace

Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has issued a passionate plea to Ndi Anambra to preserve the state’s long-standing zoning formula — warning that voting outside the Anambra South Senatorial District in the November 8, 2025 governorship election could shatter the delicate political balance that has sustained peace and equity across the state.

Speaking on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, during a massive political rally in Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area, the governor cautioned that any attempt to elect a candidate outside Anambra South—or even another person from the same zone apart from himself—would derail the rotation principle that has allowed power to move seamlessly among the three senatorial districts.

“Zoning of the governorship among Anambra Central, Anambra North, and Anambra South has brought political stability to our state,” Soludo declared. “From Peter Obi to Obiano, and now to Soludo, we have maintained peace. If you renew my mandate this November, power will naturally shift to Anambra Central in four years. But if you vote another candidate from the South, the zone will hold power for 12 years instead of 8 — and that will deny Central their turn.”

The governor emphasized that disrupting zoning would create tension and confusion, reversing the progress achieved over the past decade.

Beyond politics, Soludo used the occasion to reel out the achievements of his administration — from education and healthcare to infrastructure and youth empowerment.

He highlighted that Anambra’s public schools have been revitalized, producing national award winners, while 8,115 teachers were newly recruited. He further disclosed that Anambra students secured 29 out of 126 national admission slots into the Federal Government’s special school for gifted children.

On healthcare, Soludo noted that all 326 primary health centres across the state are now functional, with over 1,000 medical professionals employed to boost services. “We have provided free antenatal and delivery care — including Caesarean sections — to more than 170,000 women,” he said proudly.

He also revealed that Anambra won $700,000 as Nigeria’s overall best state in a global healthcare challenge, and $500,000 as the best in the South-East.

The governor said over 13,000 youths have received seed capital, with some becoming millionaires, while 30,000 others have gained digital skills under his youth empowerment initiative.

On infrastructure, Soludo announced that more than 1,000 kilometres of roads have been constructed or rehabilitated, alongside flyovers and the new government house complex. “Anambra is on the rise. Transformation is real and visible everywhere,” he asserted.

He thanked Nkpor and Idemili North stakeholders for their steadfast support, urging them to “translate their love into votes” in the upcoming election.

Soludo also praised communities that voluntarily funded his campaign. “Communities now sponsor their campaigns instead of waiting for politicians’ handouts,” he revealed, citing Obosi’s ₦50 million donation, Ekwulobia’s ₦80 million, and Oraifite’s ₦100 million, among others.

In his remarks, Hon. Chief (Sir) Engr. Emmanuel Idemili (Oputa Ife-Adi Nkpor), Convener of Divine Mandate Actualization (DMA), described Soludo as a “transformative leader” who has restored public confidence in governance.

“Before now, people in Idemili preferred to drink at beer parlours during elections,” he said. “But today, Soludo has changed the narrative. We’ll give him 100% of our votes because he has shown that leadership can truly work for the people.”

With campaigns gathering momentum and communities rallying in solidarity, Soludo’s call to preserve zoning has ignited a new wave of political consciousness across Anambra State — a reminder that in 2025, the battle for the future of the “Light of the Nation” may well be a battle for balance, continuity, and peace.
