PDP forum suspends Imo, Abia chairmen, reaffirms loyalty to party


The Forum of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) state chairmen forum Wednesday suspended Hon. Austine Nwachukwu (Imo state) and Hon. Amah Abraham Nnana from (Abia state) from their fold.

The duo it was learnt recently and sought a court injunction to halt the party’s convention.

At an emergency meeting in Abuja, the forum unanimously swooped on them, saying their actions were a betrayal of the party’s unity and collective resolve.

They alleged further that their actions were in concert with external interests trying to derail the party’s National Convention.

Consequently, the forum has appointed Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, Chairman of the Edo state PDP, as their new Chairman.

Earlier, the forum held a crucial meeting on Monday, October 14, 2025, at the PDP FCT secretariat, Abuja, under the chairmanship of Sir Edward Percy Masha, acting Secretary of the Forum.

The meeting among others deliberated extensively on issues affecting the unity and stability of the party, reviewed preparations for the forthcoming National Elective Convention slated for November 15 to 16, 2025, and assessed the state of the opposition across the federation.

After robust discussions, the forum in a communique strongly condemned the All Progressives Congress (APC) for its undemocratic, desperate, and systematic efforts to intimidate, harass, and coerce PDP leaders, including governors, senators, and members of the National and State Assemblies into defecting.

The Forum described the acts as an assault on democracy, warning that the ruling party’s conduct was a dangerous step towards establishing a de facto one-party state, which Nigerians must collectively resist.

On act of sabotage and indiscipline in the party, the forum passed a vote of confidence on the National Working Committee (NWC), the PDP Governors’ Forum, and all statutory organs of the party.

It reaffirmed its commitment to working harmoniously with the organs in rebuilding, revitalizing, and repositioning the PDP as Nigeria’s credible alternative and leading political force.

The forum then called on all party members, supporters, and stakeholders across the country to remain calm, united, and steadfast.

Others are Abubakar Bawa – Taraba, Abayomi Tella – Ogun, Sen Amb Umar El-Gash – Yobe, Zanna Gaddama Mustapha – Borno, Alh Adamu Bako – Nasarawa, Pharm Samaila Adam Burga- Bauchi, Ememona Anyebe – Kogi, Comrade Chidi Chidebe – Anambra, Hon Aliyu Mohd Halidu -Niger, Rt Hon Ezekiel A Adaji – Benue, Hon Isa Bawa Adamu- Kwara and Sir Edward Percy Masha from Kaduna state.

Babandi Ibrahim Gumel – Jigawa, Dr Jamilu Jabo – Zamfara, Hon Hassan A Chris- Plateau, Hon Sunday Bisi, Alh Usman Bello Suru – Kebbi, Major Gen Amin Kwaskebe – Gombe and BT Shehu I- Gash – Adamawa joined online.
