Northern Christians Mourn Uma Ukpai, Hail Impact On Evangelism

Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 Northern States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has expressed grief over the passing of renowned evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, Rev. Uma Ukpai.

Ukpa, Northern CAN said he was a preacher without borders whose evangelistic missions, particularly his One Million Man Crusades, brought revival and healing to several parts of northern Nigeria.
In a condolence message signed by its chairman, Rev. Joseph John Hayab, the association said Dr. Ukpai’s ministry transcended denominational boundaries, transforming lives and promoting unity among Christians across the country.

Hayab noted that the evangelist held several large crusades in the North, which attracted massive crowds and recorded numerous testimonies of spiritual and physical healing.

“The blessings of his several One Million Man Crusades in northern Nigeria remain evident. Many lives were turned to Christ, miracles happened, and souls were healed. He was a preacher with no national barrier”.

Northern CAN also recalled that the late evangelist was warmly received by the then Kaduna State governor, Ahmed Makarfi, during one of his visits to the state, describing it as a reflection of Ukpai’s wide acceptance and moral influence.

“He was widely respected for the work God did through him. The North and indeed Nigeria have lost a true servant of God whose voice of faith and hope will be greatly missed”.

The association urged Christians to celebrate the life and ministry of the late evangelist rather than mourn without hope, saying Dr. Ukpai “finished well and has gone to be with the Lord whom he served faithfully.”

Northern CAN extended condolences to the Ukpai family, the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, and the entire Christian community, praying for divine comfort and the continuation of the evangelistic mission he pioneered.
