Nigerian Army Rescues Nine Kidnapped Victims in Kwara State



Nigerian Army troops from 2 Division/Sector 3 Operation FANSAN YAMMA rescued nine kidnapped individuals during a night patrol along Egbe-Okuran in Kogi State and Okoloke through Patigi in Kwara State. 

The victims, four males and five females, were abducted from Matoku village in Patigi LGA, Kwara State, on September 24, 2025, during a terrorist raid that also involved cattle rustling.

The rescue occurred in Essalu community, Yagba West LGA, Kogi State, as part of ongoing clearance operations targeting criminal elements in the region. 

The victims reported that their captors, under pressure from sustained military operations, abandoned them and fled. 

The rescued individuals include Abdullahi Umar (35), Alhaji Umaru Sarki Fawa (55), Labaran Abubakar (45), Umar Yanda (30), Hassana Muhammad (25), Maryam Muhammad (27), Aisha Idris (20), Zainab Ahmed (12), and one unnamed female.

The victims received first aid and food before being handed over to Patigi LGA authorities for family reunification. 

Major General CR Nnebeife, General Officer Commanding 2 Division and Commander Sector 3, commended the troops of 12 and 22 Brigades for their synergy and operational success. 

He urged the public to provide credible information to support the Army’s efforts in combating insecurity.
