Nigeria has been rocked by a series of violent crimes in recent days, sparking widespread concern over rising insecurity across the country.

In Lagos, closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage captured the moment a man identified as Gbenga Obama was robbed of his gold jewellery in broad daylight along Fadeyi Aladura Street, Ikeja.

The footage shows the assailants dispossessing him before fleeing, raising fears among residents about increasing cases of street robberies despite security patrols in the area.

In a separate incident, Nigerian singer Keshinro Ololade, popularly known as Lil Kesh, was reportedly stabbed during a robbery attack in Lagos on Wednesday. The 29-year-old music star also lost jewellery valued at millions of naira to the assailants.

According to Hip TV, Lil Kesh was stabbed in the neck while being dispossessed of his valuables. The incident has triggered an outpouring of concern online, with fans flooding social media platforms with prayers and messages of support. As of the time of this report, neither the singer nor the Lagos State Police Command has issued an official statement.

Lil Kesh gained fame in 2014 with his breakout hit “Shoki” and has since remained a notable figure in the Nigerian street-hop music scene, collaborating with top artists, including Olamide, Davido, and Wizkid.

Meanwhile, tragedy struck in Enugu, where popular Nollywood filmmaker and producer Victor Tobechukwu Okoli, widely known as Vic Matt, was kidnapped and killed.

Okoli was abducted on Friday night at the popular Ntachi Osa area by New Haven, Enugu. His lifeless body was later discovered by the roadside, sending shockwaves through the Nollywood community and beyond.

These three incidents underscore mounting public anxiety over violent crimes targeting both ordinary citizens and high-profile figures. Nigerians have renewed calls for urgent and effective security interventions to stem the tide of kidnappings, robberies, and violent attacks.
