The Obafemi Awolowo University branch of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has joined the two-week strike declared by the national body of the union.
A circular issued by the chairperson and secretary of OAU ASUU, Anthony Odiwe and Tunde Amusan, Monday, directed members to boycott classes and avoid participating in any academic activities.
“The national leadership of the union has declared a two-week warning strike and all branches have been directed to withdraw their services with effect from 12.01am of Monday, 13th October, 2025.
“The strike is to press home our demands which include the conclusion of the renegotiation of the 2009 FGN/ASUU Agreement by the Yayale Ahmed’s committee as well as other unresolved issues.
“Consequent upon this declaration, ASUU-OAU at its Congress held on Monday, 13th October, 2025 resolved to align itself with the directives of the National Leadership by participating actively in the total and comprehensive strike action.
“There should not be classes, no participation in any accreditation excise, conference, official meetings and public lectures,” they added.
