Bakori explained that the breakthrough followed a robbery incident that occurred around 2 a.m. on Wednesday at Unguwar Wambai, Dorayi Babba Quarters, where the armed gang invaded a residence and carted away a Toyota Yaris car, ₦3.7 million, three mobile phones, and other valuables.

“During the attack, the suspects inflicted serious injuries on the victim’s wife,” the commissioner said.

According to him, a swift response from operatives of the Dorayi Division led to the arrest of one suspect. Further intelligence efforts by the Command’s Special Intervention Squad (SIS) subsequently resulted in the arrest of eight additional suspects at different locations in Kano and Kaduna.

The arrested suspects were identified as: Abubakar Aminu (22), Aliyu Aliyu (23), Abubakar Usman (22), Sulaiman Sani (20), Yusuf Yusuf (17), Abdulrahman Aliyu (23), Salisu Hussaini (17), Sulaiman Abdullahi (20), and Abdulmutallib Sa’ad (24).

Bakori revealed that all the suspects confessed to participating in several armed robbery operations across Abuja, Kaduna, and Kano, including a recent attack at Unguwar Jakada, Dorayi Quarters.

Recovered items included one double-barrel gun, an English Falcon pistol, a scrapped Phoenix pistol, 18 live cartridges, two cutlasses, four knives, an iron cutter, three torchlights, two mobile phones, and a red Toyota Corolla LE used during their operations.

“All the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigation,” the CP assured.

Bakori further noted that the command’s community-driven crime prevention strategy, tagged Operation Kukan Kura, had significantly reduced cases of violent crimes, phone snatching, and street thuggery across the state.

He commended officers for their professionalism and commitment, urging them to sustain the tempo, and also appreciated residents for their cooperation and timely sharing of credible intelligence.

The commissioner reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and maintaining peace and security throughout Kano State.
